Agricultural officials are concerned the beetles could negatively of the state's top harvests, such as cherries and hop In 2020, the Japanese beetle was first spotted in Sunnyside, Washington.
Their presence in the central po has grown since then.
Tens of thousands of be in Sunnyside, Grandview, and Wapato.
The state started a yard debris quarantine program and other measures in a multi-year effort to eradicate the beetles.
The Agricultural Department has set traps where the beetle was detected in anticipati of thousands more beetles emerging.
