UFOs are in the news again and they have a rich history in the Pacific Northwest.
Recently, the US government released its latest report on unidentified flying objects, now called UAPs for "unidentified aerial phenomena," citing some 140 examples of unexplained sightings.
The government doesn't believe they are evidence of extraterrestrial life, but can't explain what they are or who is behind them.
It seems appropriate that the report came out on June 24th, 74 years to the day an Idaho pilot named Kenneth Arnold saw a number of shiny objects that he thought were advanced aircraft dodging through the Cascades at high speed near Mount Rainier.
He said they looked like saucers skipping across a lake, and thus the term "flying saucer" was born.
Arnold's sighting kicked off the modern craze about UFOs.
