I just, I wonder how cognizant were they, how scared were they about starting a massive gun battle?
They knew many of these extremists were armed.
If one of the Capitol police officers had raised a weapon, my God, it could have been the Alamo.
Am I overstating that?
- No, no, Joe and I ...
It's really hard and, you know, I'm on air and you know, it's hard to analyze in real time, but there was clearly a mission orientation by the Capitol police to deescalate, and that deescalate ... And we can compare it to how they treat ... How people ... How Black Lives Matter, and civil rights protesters treated.
I get that, I get that.
But in that moment, the goal was deescalation.
It's frustrating.
You're, "Why the heck do these people get to come in, and they're not all arrested?"
So that when you saw it deescalate, and that was really only two hours.
I mean, in other words, the ramp up and then people exited, two to three hours.
I think that was their mission, was that we've lost control, and the only way to assert control is to simply deescalate.
And it's just shameful and there will have to be a reckoning.
And I think the Capitol police head probably needs to be fired, simply because, you know, you have ... As I say, you have one job, you know, which was to anticipate that this is exactly, exactly how President Donald Trump intent ... Was exactly what he intended.
And it is exactly how he intends to go out.
