#### State Senator Tom Buford has died.
The Nicholasville Republican served in the General Assembly since 1991.
Senate President Pro Tem David Givens called Buford a dedicated public servant.
House Democratic Leaders hailed his bipartisan spirit and "profound impact" on the state.
#### The Interim Joint Committee on Education today heard testimony on pre-filed bills to ban the teaching of Critical Race Theory.
Education Commissioner Jason Glass testified a ban would limit free speech AND take power away from school-based councils.
He also said no one in Kentucky is teaching it now.
Supporters of a ban said it IS being taught, and that it's a Marxist-based theory that deepens divisions.
