During this month's Civic Cocktail, Washington state Attorney General Bob Ferguson outlined what the reversal of Roe V Wade could mean for constitutional protections in the state.
- The right that women have enjoyed for decades is crowned in a right to privacy.
- [Starla] Privacy is at the core of so many constitutional rights.
According to the attorney general, the Supreme Court's decision on abortion now puts the use of contraceptives, same-sex marriage, and other rights at risk.
- Once you roll that back, that has implications, not just for women's reproductive rights, which are profound, but for other rights that we, frankly, take for granted as well.
- [Starla] Ferguson explained that in legal battles pitting state policy against the federal government, he will continue to do everything in his power to uphold the will of Washington voters.
- Our state constitution has pretty strong language around privacy.

In other words, is that already in our state constitution?
