I'm a district court judge for the state of Minnesota.
One of the very few things that we ask of, of citizens in our, in our country is to serve on a jury.
Our Constitution has, as one of its fundamental principles, the idea of a jury of your peers.
The framers of the Constitution knew that we wouldn't want to just give all of the decision making power to people in black robes, to judges who have life experiences that may be vastly different than the people appearing in front of them, especially then.
In my experience as a public defender, and as a judge, If people are willing to serve and willing to give that time, they are doing service to their community again in helping ensure the best possible results in deciding disputes.
And I hope when that request comes in the mail that you answer it, you fill in, fill out the survey.
We work hard to not waste jurors time, and we want to accommodate when we can, but we need folks to serve.
