The day was a scary day for Lexington and for our Commonwealth, and we lost some people that day.
But thanks to our heroic Kentucky State Police, Lexington Police and the acts of these brave Kentuckians were able to shine at least some light on a very dark day.
Stay with us.
First off, I wanted to stay the hell away.
And now, thanks to the strength of Trooper Romanian, the support of his family, and the commitment of the health care heroes at U-K hospital.
Today we get to see his recovery and his health.
If that was my son, you know, or me, I would want somebody to do the same thing.
And that's just how I was raised.
You know, always taking care of other people and not really thinking twice about should I or not.
You know, it's just what we should do as human beings when we see somebody else struggling or, in a situation like that.
You know, just just be there and help.
Be kind.
Yeah.
Today we will present four individuals with citations for meritorious achievement.
The highest honor KSP can award a civilian or non KSB employee.
On a dark day, you were beacons of light showing the world exactly who Kentuckians are.
And because of your selfless actions.
Trooper Vermillion is here with us today.
Trooper Vermillion, thank you so much for leaving your family to take care of ours.
God's always with us and you know, I guess he places everybody at certain times for for things like this.
So we stopped off at a gas station right before that, and maybe, we would have been involved or in past it.
So with that happening, we kind of, like, made it all in a place that was pretty cool.
While I wish this never had happ I cannot deny that the support he and his family our agency has received has been absolutely overwhelming and just not from Kentuckians, but from across our country.
It has been truly humbling to witness.
So glad to see Trooper Vermillion doing well.
And the four individuals honored this week were Jimmy and Jessica Alexander, Taylor Hall and Adam Arnold.
Good Samaritans indeed.
Governor Beshear also named them Kentucky Colonels, the highest honor awarded by the Commonwealth.
Well-deserved.
