The party picked Robert Benvenuti as its new chair, succeeding Mack Brown, who served eight years and during that time, Republicans won a supermajority of members in both the Kentucky House and Senate.
There are now more registered Republicans than Democrats in Kentucky.
In a statement, Benvenuti said there is much more work to be done.
As a party, we must continue to unite, to rely upon the wisdom of our conservative forefathers and to further tap into the passion of Kentuckians who have already entrusted to us the responsibility of leadership.
Benvenuti is an attorney who served in the Kentucky House from 2013 to 2019.
He also served in the administration of Governor Ernie Fletcher.
He is from Lexington.
