(gentle music) - Early Learning Essentials invites the community to join Kindness Quest, a fun challenge to spread kindness through team activities.
Russell Virgin is here to tell us how to get involved.
Hi, Russell.
- Hello.
- Thanks for being here and thanks for doing what you can to spread kindness.
- Yeah, happy to.
It's what we wanna do.
- Exactly.
Why don't you start by just telling us a little about Early Learning Essentials?
- Yeah, absolutely.
So Early Learning Essentials, we're a nonprofit organization based out of Provo and we, our goal is to help alleviate poverty in the community.
And we do that through two means.
We run a Head Start preschool program for low-income families and for their children who may be homeless, or in foster care, or have a disability of some sort.
And then we also try to support the family as well, and help parents become self-reliant and to create the environment that's gonna help their child be successful throughout their life.
- Great, great.
And Kindness Quest, let's talk about how that works because you involve families and kids to kind of help spread kindness.
- Yeah, and we wanna expand that a little bit.
So our goal is to involve the community as much as possible.
That's of great importance to our organization, is to help everyone in the community get involved.
And so we've created this competitive service activity that's gonna last for 10 days, from November 8th to the 17th.
And it's an opportunity for anyone to get involved and they can create teams of up to six people and engage in certain activities that we post through our app.
And those activities vary from in-person activities to things that they can just do as a team at home that engage a lot of people so.
- Okay.
And briefly, what are some of the activities that you're encouraging 'em to do?
- So it could be as simple as writing a letter to somebody that they're thinking about, that made an impact in their life, or bringing tacos to someone they know that's not feeling well, right.
So all sorts of little things that they can do as well, but we have some in-person activities as well.
We have one on September 13th at 5:00 p.m at our Springville Center, where we're gonna invite volunteers to come and create developmental file folder games.
- Okay, great.
- Yeah.
- And I think you meant November 15th.
- Did I say, yeah.
November, yep.
- Anyway, thank you so much for what you're doing.
Thank you.
- Yeah, thank you.
- And if you would like to know more about what's happening with Early Learning Essentials Kindness Quest and how you can get involved, it's in Utah County.
It's a remote event.
November 8th through 17th.
