(upbeat music) - NPR News Media Correspondent David Folkenflik is joining KUER's Doug Fabrizio, November 13th for a conversation about media and the elections.
Here to tell us more is Station Manager Cristy Meiners.
Hi, Cristy.
- Hi, Mary.
- I'm really excited for this because there's so much to say about media coverage - [Cristy] I know.
- during the presidential election, and this comes after.
- We timed it just right.
We got really lucky getting David Folkenflik to come and join us the week after the election.
He's going to be very tired, I would imagine.
(Cristy and Mary laugh) But there's so much to discuss, and having Doug Fabrizio lead this conversation, if you know anything about Doug and his interview style, deep dives are what he's into, so you can expect a really, really fascinating conversation.
- Oh, yeah, no kidding.
And David Folkenflik, of course, covers media for NPR, but he's written some books too that look into it.
- Yes, yes, exactly.
He's covered Rupert Murdoch very extensively.
He's been covering media for years.
He's won a lot of awards for his reporting.
But when you consider this particular election plus previous elections and the media's role in that, there's going to be a lot for those two to discuss.
- Boy, no kidding, and I know you're gonna open it for audience questions too.
- We will, yes.
- And I'm sure people have a lot to say about media coverage this year.
That's a hot topic, yeah.
(Cristy laughing) - Yeah, that's what we're expecting.
So, we'll have Doug conduct the interview, and then at the end, we'll take audience questions.
We want people to feel like it's an interactive space so that they can feel that they can participate in that way.
But really, you just think about, you know, all that Doug will prepare as he's coming into this, all that David has done over his years of reporting, and then you get these two sitting down together, so, expect a good one.
- It's gonna be great.
And know you have student discounts, - We do.
- which is great.
- Yes, we are offering a discount, $10 for a student.
Just use the discount STUDENT.
That's all.
So when you go to the page, just type in that word.
And honestly, Mary, we want people to come.
So if you're not a student, and you use that discount, we won't be mad.
Hot tip right here for "Contact" watchers.
- All right.
- But we really want folks to come.
We know it's a really critical conversation at this time of year.
- Well, thanks so much for doing it, and thanks for being here.
- Thanks so much.
- And if you'd like to know more about that upcoming conversation with David Folkenflik of NPR, it's November 13th, seven o'clock, in the S.J.
