Lake Miccosukee Sinkhole Hike: Floridan Aquifer Exposed!

Clip: Season 3 Episode 11 | 5m 48sVideo has Closed Captions

Two sinkholes on Lake Miccosukee are exposed, a glimpse into the geology of our area.

We hike with geologist Harley Means to two sinkholes on Lake Miccosukee. Low rainfall has exposed them, and we can now walk up and take a look. The lake's water is trickling to the edge of the sinks and falling in as waterfalls. Here we see the geologic forces that created the largest lakes in and around Tallahassee, and to explore the lakes' connection to the Floridan Aquifer.
