Day 37 in the Legislation saw Georgia pass a new Hate Crimes Bill. HB 426 passed overwhelmingly in both houses. Language that added “First Responders” to the protected classes in the Senate’s version of the bill was removed Monday night during negotiations with house members who felt it wasn’t needed and sent the wrong message. It’s removel paved the way for the bill’s passage.
