Lawmakers Sign Off on Hybrid Elected School Board in Chicago

The bill that would create an elected school board is moving through the General Assembly.

The plan would only mean a hybrid board to start — with 10 of the 20 seats elected by residents, the other 10 and board president appointed by the mayor.
