Legal Aid Organizations Call for Increased State Funding

A network of Illinois legal aid organizations hopes to get a budget boost from the state.

An Illinois initiative is looking to up their ability to offer legal support to the Black and Latino populations disproportionately impacted by incarceration and deportation. The Illinois Access to Justice coalition is comprised of different nonprofit legal aid organizations, and offers Illinoisans free legal representation and free training on legal literacy — and that can be a lot of people.
