Life expectancy numbers have rebounded some after COVID, but they're still lower than they were nine years ago.
Details in tonight's look at medical news.
The CDC says the average Americans life expectancy in 2022 was 77.5 years.
That's up a full year from 2021.
The numbers had declined in 2020 and 2021 because of COVID.
But the CDC says drug overdoses, homicides and heart disease are keeping the number below its 2014 peak of 78.9 years.
We don't have state by state numbers just yet.
A year ago, Kentucky was 46th among the states with an average life expectancy of 73.5 years.
