A Kind of Blue: Osvaldo Golijov's "Azul"

Clip: Season 38 Episode 7 | 2m 8s

Osvaldo Golijov vividly narrates the composing of a musical masterpiece.

Osvaldo Golijov has been hailed as one of the world's finest living composers. But never before have we had the chance to experience the process of creation behind his work. In this rare moment, Golijov - accompanied by cellist Yo-Yo Ma and maestro Alan Gilbert of the New York Philharmonic - demonstrates how his cello concerto "Azul," written expressly for Ma, evolved from idea to final form.
