Here comes the jackpot.
Question in advance.
Lisa Bleil And Scott Anderson Now, here's your host, Pete Hewlett.
Good evening, and welcome to a special edition of live from studio A Holiday Jam.
I'm your host, Pete Hewlett.
And tonight on our fifth anniversary, we decided to try something a little bit different.
We've compiled some of the best performances over the past five years into one great show.
Tonight we're on location.
As you can see, we're outside the studios.
It's a beautiful evening.
Behind me is Joseph Horne.
Christmas tree.
Pittsburgh is lit up and beautiful.
Tonight we're going to kick things off with last year's opener, a big band version of Jingle Bells.
Sit back and enjoy.
Jingle bells, jingle bells.
Jingle all the way.
Oh, what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh.
Jingle bells, jingle bells.
Jingle all the way.
Oh, what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh.
Dashing through the snow.
In a one horse open sleigh.
Over the hills we go Laughing all the way.
Bells on Bobtails ring and making spirits bright.
Oh, what fun it is to ride and sing A sleighing song tonight.
Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells.
Jingle all the way.
Oh, what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh.
Jingle bells, jingle, jingle bells.
Jingle all the way.
Oh, what fun it is to ride in one horse open sleigh Dashing through the snow.
In one horse open sleigh.
All the fields we go.
Laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh.
Bells on Bobtails ring Making spirits bright.
Oh, what fun it is to ride a sing.
A sleighing song tonight Oh, jingle bells, jingle, jingle bells.
Jingle all the way.
Oh, what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh.
Jingle bells, jingle bells.
Jingle all the way.
Oh, what fun it is to fight in a one horse open sleigh Next we're going to go back to 2001 to our very first holiday jam.
And this next song features B.E.
Taylor, who is so well known for his Christmas performances during the holiday season over at Heinz Hall.
And, the song is Mary's Boy Child, which originally was supposed to be a duet.
And while we were rehearsing the song, we heard a high harmony going on in the background, and it turned out to be Lisa Bleil.
Yes, it was supposed to be a duet, but I couldn't resist hearing you guys doing your two parts, strumming away on your guitars in the studio.
So I thought I'd weasel my way in.
Yes, it was me.
So I threw that third part on and got to sing Mary's Boy Child with Pete Hewlett B.E.
Taylor.
And it was beautiful.
And here's B.E.
with Mary's boy child a long time ago in Bethlehem.
Holy Bible, say.
Mary's boy child, Jesus Christ was born on Christmas Day.
Hark, now hear the angels sing.
Newborn king today.
Man shall live forevermore.
Because of Christmas day.
While shepherds monster flocks by night.
See a bright shining star.
Hear a choir singing music come from afar.
Joseph and his wife Mary came to Bethlehem that night find the place to bear a child.
Not a single place was in sight.
They said Hark, now hear the angels sing The newborn king to day man shall live forevermore.
We call the Christmas day.
Trumpets sound.
The angels sing.
Listen to what they say.
Man shall live forever more Because of Christmas day.
Bam bam bam bam bam.
Little nook In a stable all forlorn in a manger.
Cold and dark.
Mary's little boy was born.
Take it up now, up now.
Hark, now hear the angels sing Newborn king trumpet.
Man shall live forevermore.
Because of Christmas day.
Trumpets sound.
The angels sing.
And listen to what they said.
Then shall live forevermore.
Because of Christmas day Christmas day I want to say merry, merry merry merry, merry, merry, merry.
Christmas singing with me now.
Merry Christmas everyone.
Merry Christmas.
Yeah merry Christmas everyone.
Merry Christmas yeah merry Christmas everyone.
Merry Christmas.
Yeah.
One more time.
Merry Christmas everyone.
Merry Christmas.
I'm here with, Scott Anderson, our music director.
And, Scott, this next song also goes back to our first holiday jam, 2001, 2001.
And, everybody feeling a little nervous.
And in walked the veteran, the legendary Joe Negri.
Yeah, that was that was an amazing moment for us.
And I think it it helped so much because Joe's musicianship is so effortless and he's so great with camera from years, his handyman Negri and he to settle us down and got us playing.
And it kicks this whole vibe with scarf look great and play it even better.
Here's the legendary journey agreed with Sleigh Ride.
Silent Night.
Holy Night Oh Its cold Oh.
its bright.
From the on the young virgin.
mother and the child.
Holy.
infant so tender and love.
Sleep in heavenly peace.
Sleep in heavenly.
the silent night holy night Son of God.
Love was pure love.
Radiate beams from thy holy, holy face.
With the dawn.
of redeeming grace Jesus, Lord at Thy birth Jesus.
lord, at Thy birth Silent night Holy night Silent night holy night.
Silent night.
The next number we bump up to last year, 2005.
And we probably got more calls on this one than I think.
Any other, not on of your performance, but the, the great prop work that went on for the scarf.
The scarf, the scarf.
That's the big question.
What kept the scarf up?
We wanted the scarf blowing in the breeze.
The question is, how do we do it?
And the answer is never.
The crew right out of shot hanging behind me, holding up the wire, a wire, a wire.
It's all done with wires.
Here's Scott with his version of Snoopy Versus the Red Baron.
Christmas bells.
The news had come out in the First World War.
The bloody Red Baron was at it once more.
The Allied command ignored all of its men and called on Snoopy to do it again.
Twas the Night before Christmas and 40 below Snoopy went up in search of his foe.
He spied the Red Baron.
And fiercely they fought with ice on his wings.
He knew he would be caught oh Christmas bells.
Those Christmas bells ringing through the land.
Asking peace for all the world.
And goodwill to men.
The Baron had Snoopy dead in his sights and reached for the trigger to pull it up tight.
Why, he didn't shoot, we'll never know.
Or was it the bells in the village below?
Christmas bells.
Those Christmas bells ringing through the land.
Asking peace for all the world and goodwill.
To man.
Married.
Make Snoopy fly to the right.
And forced him to land behind the enemy lines.
Snoopy was certain that this was the end.
When the Baron cried out.
Merry Christmas, my friend!
The Baron then offered a holiday toast and Snoopy, our hero, saluted his host.
Then with more, they were both on their way, knowing they'd be on some other day.
Oh, Christmas bells, those Christmas bells ringing through the land.
Asking peace for all the world.
And goodwill to man Christmas bells.
Those Christmas bells ringing through the land.
Asking for peace for all the world.
And good will to man.
In it glorious.
Angels we have heard on high.
Sweetly singing.
Oer the pains and the mountains In reply echoed by the joyous strains.
Can you hear glorious.
glorious glorious in excelsis Deo.
Shepherds.
Why this jublilee Why your joyous strains prolong.
What the gladsome tidings be which inspire this heavenly song?
Gloria In excelsis Deo Gloria Yeah.
In excesis Deo Come to Bethlehem and See him whose birth the angels sing.
Come, adore on bended knee Christ the Lord, the newborn King.
Gloria In excelsis .
Deo Gloria in excelsis in excelsis Deo in excelsis in excelsis Deo Wow, isn't that great?
Fabulous.
That's fabulous.
Great vocal performance.
And now from that great vocal performance into another one from your host, Pete Hewlett.
Thank you.
This is, great arrangement of O, Come, Emmanuel.
It was written by John D'Amico.
How did that come about?
We attended the same church a few years back, and we're doing a Christmas program, and John brought the arrangement in and asked if, I could do a vocal over it.
And we were looking for songs for this particular show.
I called John said, why don't we do O come, O come, Emmanuel.
It's a great arrangement.
It's a great performance.
Thank you.
Pete Hewlett and John D'Amico wi O come, O come, Emmanuel O come, O come, Immanuel and ransom captive Israel who mourns in lonely exile here Until the Son of God appears.

And close the door to misery.

Here comes the Chuck part.
Question in advance Lisa Bleil, what are you doing to ease?
And now here's Sauce with what child is this What child is this who, laid to rest, On Mary's lap is sleeping?
Whom angels greet with anthems sweet, While shepherds watch are keeping?
So bring Him incense, Gold.
and myrrh, Come, peasant, king to own Him.
The King of Kings salvation brin Let loving hearts enthrone Him.
This, this is Christ, the King, Whom shepherds guard and angels sing: Hey Haste, haste to bring Him laud, The babe.
the Son of May!
What Child is this, who, laid to rest, On Mary's lap is sleeping?
Whom angels greet with anthems sweet, While shepherds watch are keeping?
This, this is Christ, the King, Whom shepherds guard and angels sing: angels sing Haste, haste to bring Him laud, The Babe the Son of Mary!
The Babe the Son of Mary!
The Babe the Son of Mary!
The Babe the Son of Mary!
Da da da da da.
So the next song we're going to move up to 2005, last year's Holiday Jam here on The Best Stuff.
And, I'm here with Carol Lee Espy.
I'm here with Pete Hewlett radio and TV personality, singer songwriter.
And every year that we had a holiday jam, Carol would contribute an original song.
And last year was waiting in Bethlehem.
Waiting in Bethlehem.
Beautiful song.
And you know, I got the call this year that they were going to do a best of.
So we had to get together and figure out what song did we like the best.
And so I said, let me think which song was I?
Then it's stuck.
So came down to two and Waiting in Bethlehem one.
Plus, you know what Eric Defade does the most incredible solo.
He does and and he's thin and is thin on this.
This is was his thinness, too, right.
So we used a cool wedding in Bethlehem.
Here's Carol Lee Espy.
Wake from sleep.
Tender it in.
Time won't keep small little bling.
I've seen the sign star.
Light divine.
Take my hand.
The knowledge.
Cross the sand in this midnight.
In.
Be not afraid, our passage is sa And yes, everything we've hope for.
has come true a prince of peace is born for me.
And you and his waiting in Bethlehem.
Blessed be the carry us there.
Swift to feed a zip and away.
All life, it seems, is part of the stream.
And still my heart beats on the streets.
I won't rest like that.
She speaks.
Once I see three kings on the knees.
And yes, everything we've hope for has come true a prince of peace.
Is born for me.
And you.
His waiting in Bethlehem.
In Bethlehem.
So now we're going back to the very first show, which, I think was maybe my favorite.
I don't know why.
Maybe it was because it was new.
We were doing something exciting.
It was definitely was a lot of great people.
But, this is the only song that doesn't have a Christmas title to it, and it's done by Lisa Bleil.
What are you doing New Year's Eve?
I don't know, what are you doing, Nancy?
My gig got canceled, but, call me awesome.
I actually picked this number for the show because I'm the youngest in 2001, much younger than I was last year, in 2005.
So.
Wow.
And my hair was the darkest in 2001.
Yes.
Check out the hairstyle and appearance style.
Is there a beard on this one?
I don't think you have a beard on this one, sure.
But anyway, a beautiful rendition.
What are you doing for New Year's Eve?
Our own Lisa Bleil.
Maybe it's much too early in the game.
Ah, But I thought I'd ask you just the same.
What are you doing?
New years New years eve who's on this will hold you good.
And tight when it's exactly 12:00 at night.
Welcoming in the new year.
New years eve Maybe I'm crazy to suppose.
That I would be the one you'd chose.
Out of a million invitations.
You received Oh, but in case I stand a little chance, here comes that jackpot question in advance.
What are you.

We're going back to 2002 again.
Are we still there?
We're still there 2002, 2002.
Anyway, this was, the finale song for that, particular show, and it was, actually one of my favorite Christmas songs, the First Noel, mine too and my first chance to sing a duet with you on the show.
And, it was nice to end the show, this finale with a sacred song.
And here it is, the first Noel.
The First Noel the angel did say was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay in fields as they lay.
Keeping their sheep on a cold winter's night that was so deep.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, born is the King of Israel.
Yeah.
They looked up and saw a star shining in the east beyond.
They far.
And to the earth it gave great light.
And so it continued both day and night.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel born is the King of Israel Noel.
Noel.
Noel.
Noel born is the King of Israel Noel.
Noel.
Noel born is the king of Israel, Noel.
Noel.
Noel.
Noel.
Born is the king.
Born is the king.
Born is the king of Israel All right, guys, great show, Yeah, that was a lot of fun.
A lot of great performances over the years.
Hopefully next year we'll have a new one and go on and have maybe five more in.
Have another one with that.
But to all, a very Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
We'll see you next time.
