On February 2nd, Arlington County and the city of Norfolk were the first to desegregate their schools in Virginia.
(gentle music continues) >>Even though we were 11 years old at the time, we had been part of like a training program for all the students that had been sort of trained or look forward to integrating the schools.
(gentle music continues) We had classes on what we could expect, and so we were just part of the beginning of the end of the process to integrate Virginia public schools.
(gentle music continues) We were fortunate to be selected, so it was something that we had a lot of obligation to do to go through with this and make it better for others, even though we only had a small part in it.
