(bright music) - The Love Local Holiday Market celebrates local food, local makers, and the warmth of community.
Wasatch Community Garden's Katie Dwyer is here with all the details about this year's event.
Hi, Katie.
Thanks for being here.
- Thank you.
- So first, let's tell people where your campus is.
- Excellent, so it's at 629 East 800 South, just a block or so north of Liberty Park in downtown Salt Lake.
- Yeah, and I want to hear about all the vendors you're bringing.
- Yes, we have 30 vendors from across Salt Lake County joining us this year.
We really focus on local materials with our vendors, local businesses.
We have vendors spanning arts, ceramic, local homesteaders, farm goods, clothing, jewelry.
It really runs the gamut.
The focus of the market is kind of to be a one-stop shop for folks to come to our campus, enjoy the garden in winter.
While we don't have a ton of plants, we'll have a bunch of twinkly lights and beverages and food and a full experience and get some holiday shopping done at the same time.
- That's great, I know you've got things like bath goods, you've got honey, you've got all sorts of really practical things.
That's always good for people.
- Yes, exactly, and supporting our local makers and talents at the same time.
- That's great, and then the big tree forest you're doing, you're decorating a lot of trees there?
- Yes, that's been a fun thing for us.
So our campus is about an acre and a half, and so that's a lot of space to decorate, so we've thought let's get the community involved.
So we'll have about 25 pine trees that will be decorated by either organizations in the community, we've had individuals or families decorate them as well.
And those trees are then auctioned off in a silent auction at the market and folks can bid to ticket a tree home with them.
So it's a fun little thing for their place and it also generates funds for our nonprofits to support our mission to empower people to grow and eat healthy, organic local food.
- That's so great.
And I know you can take your picture with the big tomato.
- (laughing) Yes, that's been a crowd favorite for us.
We have what we call a teaching tunnel, and it's a beautiful old greenhouse.
She decorates...
It's lovely lights, banners.
It's very festive.
And our logo tomato is there to take photos too.
- Wonderful, well, thanks so much for being here.
Thank you.
- My pleasure.
Thank you, Mary.
- And if you'd like to know more about that Love Local Community Gardens Holiday Market, it's December 2nd from noon to 6:00 p.m. Wasatch Community Garden Campus.
