I was given a guitar that had belonged to my father.
“Okay, it's here.
So you can fix it if you want to play it.
” So that was it.
My name is Dale Nielsen.
My chosen avocation here is as a luthier.
The reason I do this is because I don't play well enough to be out of the basement with it anymore.
I played professionally when I was a youngster, but I was all done by the time I was 21.
I thought this is no life for me, but I always had this interest in art and music and woodworking, and I love the creative process of it all.
And I was lucky enough or blessed, if you will, enough to realize that I could combine all of that.
And when that customer comes in and picks up that guitar.
And goes: “Oh!
Wow!
” and smiles.
I love that.
