Claudia Loayza is here with more information.
Claudia, welcome.
Why don't you talk about the importance of this project for our community?
- Thank you so much.
Yeah, so Magnify Utah is a wonderful project that we have going on right now that is meant to connect communities, places, and multicultural stories.
And this is a learning and resource hub that is really built to expand our understanding and also our shared history of Utah, the communities that call Utah home, and we have so many wonderful resources to expand our learning around the history and also the current communities, right, that are continuing to contribute to our great state.
So we have a multiple pronged project here with a resource directory, we have story maps that go into more details around communities that have served and contributed to Utah across many, many centuries.
And I think part of this too is also trying to create shared understanding of how much of our state is growing, but also diversifying.
So, as part of that, we also encourage folks to jump on.
- Great, great.
So you're looking for stories, and when you talk about mapping assets, what kind of mapping are you looking at?
- So part of this is really just trying to go to communities themselves and ask them that question of where and what in their communities do they value?
So our multicultural asset directory is featuring locations, places, organizations, landmarks, that have a story and meaning to those communities themselves.
So our directory, you can filter down to communities.
So those that are interested in learning more about the Latino, the Black community, our Pacific Islander community, we have different filters for people to really dive in and better understand some of the signature organizations that are serving these communities.
And as part of that too, there's links that go directly to these organizations.
So, when we say asset, we really mean places and organizations that are meaningful.
- Great, well, wonderful that you're doing it.
And congratulations and good luck with everything, thank you.
- Thank you.
- And if you'd like to know more about that project, it's the Utah Division of Multicultural Affairs Magnify Utah Project, go to multicultural.utah.gov/magnify, multicultural.utah.gov/magnify.
