Benedict gets a lesson in manners on a camping trip.
The final episode of this first season, the Eggs go on their annual camping trip. Benedict tags along with Reggie’s family, but not before causing embarrassing and annoying problems. He gets the same treatment by some little Eggs at the campground, which causes him to realize his own behavior.

(upbeat music) ♪ All Good Eggs say ♪ ♪ Love, run, and play ♪ ♪ Join us today ♪ ♪ And together we'll do our part ♪ ♪ The Good Eggs say ♪ ♪ Reach out each day ♪ ♪ So we can stay ♪ ♪ In every bit of our heart ♪ (clapping on rhythm) ♪ In every bit of our heart ♪ (playful music) (children yelling and playing) - [Narrator] The hot summer sun beat down on Albumen Park as the Eggs were having fun swimming in the pool.
- Hey!
Watch my belly flop!
(water splashes) - That was a good one, Reggie!
Now watch my cannonball!
(water splashes) - [Narrator] After another hour of fun in the pool, the Eggs decided to rest under some shade trees on their beach towels.
- What time is everyone leaving for the camping trip tomorrow?
(birds chirping) - My parents said we are leaving at 10:00 tomorrow morning.
It's a two hour drive, and we want to get to the campground by lunchtime.
- We are doing the same thing.
- We will get there closer to dinnertime.
We are going to stop and visit my grandma!
- What are you Eggs talking about?
What camping trip?
- Every year, our families take a camping trip to celebrate the end of summer.
It's so much fun!
- Benedict, why don't you ask your family if they want to join us?
The more the merrier!
- That sounds like fun!
I'll ask when I get home.
My summer tutoring is done and I will have some free time.
I hope we can go!
- [Narrator] Later that evening, Benedict called Reggie.
(mellow music) - Reggie, my parent's can't go on the camping trip.
They have to work, but they did say I could tag along with you, if that would be okay.
And can I bring my dog, Scrambler?
- Um, let me ask and call you back.
- [Narrator] A few minutes later, Reggie called Benedict back.
- Benedict, you're welcome to come on the camping trip with my family, and Scrambler can come too, but my mom said to be sure to bring a cage for him.
Be at my house tomorrow morning at 11:00.
- Oh, that's great!
Thanks, Reggie.
See you tomorrow!
- [Narrator] The next morning, Benedict arrived at Reggie's house.
He had Scrambler with him, but no cage.
(quirky music) - Benedict!
Where's Scrambler's cage?
My mom said he had to be in one.
- The latch to the cage door is broken, so I didn't think it would do any good.
Besides, Scrambler is a good dog.
He won't be any trouble.
- [Reggie's Mother] Well, Benedict, I sure hope Scrambler has better manners than you.
Come on, let's go.
Remember, we have to make a stop at Grandma's house.
- [Narrator] They had been driving for about an hour, when Benedict rudely blurted out, (cars humming by) - I have to go to the bathroom!
- [Reggie's Mother] Benedict, we will be at Reggie's grandma's house in 15 minutes.
Can you wait until then?
- I guess so, but why are we stopping there anyway?
I want to get to Camp Sunny Side Up.
- Benedict, don't be so rude!
I told you before we were stopping to visit my grandma.
Now, use your manners!
(mellow music) - [Narrator] They soon arrived at Reggie's grandma's house and pulled up the gravel driveway.
The car barely stopped when Benedict threw open the car door and ran for the house.
He rapidly pounded on the front door with his fist!
Reggie's grandma answered the door.
(Benedict knocking loudly) - [Reggie's Grandma] My, my!
What is going on?
(birds chirping outside) - [Narrator] Benedict ran past Reggie's grandma and into the bathroom.
He came out a few minutes later with a sigh of relief.
(playful music) (toilet flushes) - Ah, that's much better.
I'm sorry, I just really had to go.
- [Narrator] Reggie and his family stared at Benedict with disbelief.
- Benedict, please.
You're embarrassing me in front of my family with your rudeness!
Try to be more polite, okay?
I told you in the car, "remember your manners."
- [Narrator] Just then, they heard Scrambler barking, and they ran out to see what was wrong.
Scrambler jumped out of the car and ran off.
They cornered him in the backyard, but not before he did his business on Reggie's grandma's lawn.
(Scrambler barking) - [Reggie's Mother] I hope you're going to clean that up, Benedict!
I told you to keep Scrambler in a cage.
- [Narrator] Benedict cleaned up Scrambler's mess.
They visited Reggie's grandma for a while, got back in the car, and headed for Camp Sunny Side Up.
(cars humming by) - I'm sorry.
I'm not being a polite guest.
I'm just excited about this vacation.
I'll try to use my manners the rest of the trip.
- [Narrator] Okay, Benedict, we'll count on that.
- Thank you!
- [Narrator] Well, that's a good start, Benedict.
(car humming) When they arrived at camp Sunny Side Up, Megg, Seggourney, and Greggory were already there.
Reggie and his mom pitched their tent next to the others.
They could not find Benedict, but they heard Scrambler barking.
(Scrambler barking in the distance) (quirky music) - [Reggie's Mother] Where did Benedict go?
He's supposed to help us put up the tent, and he's supposed to be taking care of Scrambler.
- I don't know where he went.
He's been so rude this entire trip, and we just got here!
- [Narrator] A few minutes later, Benedict came walking back to the camp.
- I went to check out the game room, it's so cool.
- Benedict!
You were supposed to help us put up the tents!
Here, at least set up the cooking equipment.
(equipment clangs) Benedict!
Where are you going now?
And by the way, where's Scrambler?
- I'm going back to the game room, and I don't know where Scrambler is, I thought you had him.
- [Reggie's Mother] Reggie, we can't have Scrambler running around this campground.
We're responsible for any trouble he gets into.
If Benedict didn't bring a cage, he should've brought a leash.
- [Narrator] Greggory, Seggourney, and Megg offered to help Reggie find Scrambler.
- I can't believe Benedict is acting so rude.
- I know, I told him he needed to use his manners, but he's not listening!
- [Narrator] After about 20 minutes, they found Scrambler at another family's campsite eating their dog's food!
(children playing in the distance) - Scrambler, here boy!
Let's get you back to our campsite.
- [Narrator] The Eggs walked back to their campsite with Scrambler in their arms.
Benedict was already there, roasting marshmallows.
(quirky music) - Benedict!
You are being so rude!
We were off looking for Scrambler, and here you are roasting marshmallows!
- Oh, where are my manners?
Here, sit down.
Do you want some?
- Benedict, you don't get it, do you?
You're doing whatever you please, and not helping others or taking care of Scrambler!
You can't be like this the whole weekend, or you will ruin the camping trip!
- [Narrator] Just then, some little Eggs ran into the campsite right past where Benedict was sitting.
They kicked up some dirt as they ran, and it landed right onto his perfectly roasted marshmallow.
(little Eggs laughing) - Hey!
Can you believe those little Eggs?
Look what they did to my marshmallow!
Where are their manners?
- See, Benedict?
Manners are important.
They show respect between people.
You really need to keep that in mind.
- I guess so.
- Greggory, did you bring your guitar?
Can we sing around the campfire?
- Yes, I brought it, Megg.
I'll go get it.
- [Narrator] Greggory returned with his guitar, and the Eggs began to sing.
(crickets chirping) ♪ Make new friends ♪ ♪ But keep the old ♪ ♪ One is silver ♪ ♪ And the other's gold ♪ - [Narrator] The Eggs sang songs for another hour before the fire began to go out.
(crickets chirping) - I think it's time for bed.
(fire crackling) I'm tired, and it's been a long day.
(mellow music) - [Narrator] During the middle of the night, Seggourney awoke to a shrieking sound.
It sounded like an animal caught in a trap!
She rubbed her eyes and got out of her sleeping bag.
As she listened closer, she heard the sound again.
It sounded like someone trying to sing.
She peeked outside of her tent.
She saw Benedict playing Greggory's guitar.
(crickets chirping) (singing offkey) ♪ Oh give me a home ♪ ♪ Where the buffalo roam ♪ - (loudly whispers) Benedict!
What are you doing out here?
- I couldn't sleep, so I decided to sing.
It sounded so nice when we were all sitting around the campfire.
I thought it might help me go back to sleep.
I'm messing up again, aren't I?
- (loudly whispers) Benedict, it's three in the morning!
You are going to wake everyone up.
And, no offense, but you don't have the best singing voice.
You really need to use your manners and consider others.
Now, get back to bed!
- [Narrator] Benedict went back to his sleeping bag.
After a few hours of tossing and turning, he finally fell asleep.
In the very early morning, Benedict was awakened suddenly by those same little Eggs from the night before running past his tent!
They were playing a game of tag and shouting loudly.
(children shouting) (birds chirping) - What time is it?
Don't those little Eggs have any manners?
They woke me up!
(quirky music) - [Narrator] As he was leaving the tent to tell the little Eggs how rude they were, he stopped for a minute.
He began to think about what he just said.
He finally realized what his friends had been trying to tell him.
Manners are very important.
He now understood why.
If he was disturbed by the rude little Eggs, his friends were surely disturbed by his rude behavior.
- Now I get it.
- [Narrator] Benedict had decided he was going to do his best at using his manners, and to make the rest of the camping trip fun for everyone.
- Good morning, everyone.
What a beautiful day it is.
- [Narrator] Benedict ate breakfast, and then cleaned all the dishes, and for the rest of the trip, he was helpful and polite.
He helped with chores, and made sure Scrambler was fed and played with.
When it came time to go home, he helped pack up the tents.
- This was the best trip ever, Reggie.
Thanks for letting me tag along with you and your family.
- I'm glad you had fun, Benedict.
It ended up being a great time!
- [Narrator] The Eggs returned to Albumen late that night.
Before he got out of the car, Benedict addressed Reggie's mom.
(cars humming by) - Thanks again.
I appreciate everything you did for me this weekend.
And I'm sorry my behavior was so rude during the first part of our trip.
As always, my friends helped me realize I need to be a good Egg.
I will always try to use my manners from now on.
- [Narrator] Scrambler gave a little bark too, (Scrambler barks) as if to say, "thank you."
- [Reggie's Mother] You're welcome, Benedict.
We look forward to seeing you again soon.
And Scrambler too.
- [Narrator] Benedict walked into his house and began to tell his parents all about the camping trip.
(happy music) - It was so much fun!
Maybe next year, we can go as a family.
- [Benedict's Father] Of course we can, we'll make sure to plan for it.
- And Mom, Dad?
I know I gave you a hard time about moving to Albumen, but it has turned out to be the best move ever.
When I first met Reggie, he told me that new experiences can be exciting, and he was right.
I have learned so much this year from my new friends.
I have learned to be understanding, forgiving, grateful, generous, cooperative, loving, accepting, respectful, responsible, honest, confident, and polite.
- [Benedict's Mother] We're so glad, Benedict.
You've had quite a year, and we're proud of you for learning so much.
We feel the same way.
Albumen is full of good Eggs.
Now, off to bed!
We love you.
- [Narrator] The next few weeks, the Eggs played, swam, relaxed, and hung out with each other.
They knew summer was ending, and they wanted to enjoy their remaining carefree days together.
Greggory, Seggourney, Reggie, and Megg met every morning in Albumen Park, but Benedict never showed up until the afternoon.
One day, Greggory asked him why.
- Benedict, why don't you show up to the park until after lunch?
I know your summer tutoring is over.
Are you sleeping in that late?
- (laughs) No, I'm not sleeping in.
Remember the money we donated to the Albumen Children's Hospital to buy books?
I go there each morning to read to the children so they feel better.
It's great, you should try it sometime.
- We will!
Let's all go tomorrow.
- [Narrator] Their last few mornings of the summer were spent at the hospital.
Greggory, Seggourney, Reggie, and Megg loved reading to the children.
Benedict loved it, too.
He felt like it was a good way for him to give back to his community.
Especially after some of the trouble he had caused throughout the year.
It could be said that with the help of his new friends, Benedict learned the importance of being a Good Egg.
(upbeat music) - [Boy] Thanks for watching!
