I'm Alma.
My little brother Junior isn't feeling well.
We were supposed to go to the museum today, but now we can't.
So Papi and I made a new plan for the day -- the Ultimate Help Junior Feel Better Plan!
First, I read Junior his favorite dinosaur book.
He loves dinos.
Next, I'm headed outside to play, so the house will be quiet for his nap.
I like having a plan to follow.
My friend Josh makes plans and helps his family, too.
-Hi.
My name's Josh, and this is my awesome mom.
-Hi!
-I'm about to go do my chores.
Come on!
♪ [ Vacuum whirring ] My daily chores are... I vacuum, and I take out the trash.
I like to turn my chores into games.
Just, like, make it fun.
Sometimes you don't even got to make it fun.
It's just fun.
Taking out the trash, I like to try to throw it just like basketball.
♪ But then the worst part is, if I miss [Laughs] I have to go pick it up.
-Good job on the chores today.
-Every day after chores, Josh and his mom like to talk about their plan for the day.
Hey, that's just like Papi and me!
-Okay, so here's the plan for today.
Uh, first, we got to eat some breakfast.
So you can make your dad some eggs.
You know, he likes cheese in 'em.
-Yeah.
-Yeah.
And then after that, Dad has a haircut today.
So we got to take care of business, get his haircut, make him look fresh.
-Okay.
-And then after that, we've got some fun time.
We're gonna go bowling, all of us.
Yeah.
Get your bowling arms ready.
-[ Chuckles ] -You got any questions?
-No, I think I understand it.
-Josh helps a lot, especially with his dad.
-My dad has a disability and that means, like, not something wrong with him, but something is different with his body.
He can't really, like, walk like us and, like, talk like us.
[ Indistinct speaking ] -While I'm cooking, I ask my dad for what he wants.
Being able to understand my dad makes me feel like I have a superpower.
Dad, you want cheese?
-Yes.
-What kind do you want?
-American.
♪ -Yeah.
-Hey, Dad, I hope you're hungry!
-Because Josh's dad has a disability, he needs a lot of help.
What better way to love someone than to feed them?
Some things about Joshua that just makes him so special and cool is that he finds ways to help with the things that seem like they're little, but they're really big.
Hey, Mom, I got the walker.
-Oh, okay.
Good.
Power up!
-Having a plan helps Josh know what to expect and how he can help throughout the day.
-Almost there.
Hand on the table.
-I cooked.
-Yeah, you said Micah cooked.
-And I'm 11 now, not 15.
-[ Laughs ] -Get him, Micah!
[ Conversation continues ] -[Laughs] -Josh has one more chore for the morning.
♪ -Ss-ss-ss-ss.
Come here, girl.
I have two cats.
I feed the cats every day, and I do the litter.
-Helping can be hard work, but Josh takes a break when he needs one.
-The cats comfort me when I have a hard time.
Their soft fur just kind of calms me down.
And that makes me feel happy.
♪ -Those cats look as soft as Chacho!
Alright, what's next on their plan?
Ah, I remember -- the barbershop!
-Hey, how you doing?
Good to see you.
-What's up?
-How you doing, man?
-Josh has a lot of responsibilities, but he knows he can always talk to his mom about what's happening and how he's feeling.
Even at the barbershop.
-My mom always checks on me.
-Already.
-She always knows when I'm down.
She'll check on me and we'll talk about it.
It's important to know that people are there for you.
-You don't have to be afraid to talk about how you feel, good or bad.
Aww!
♪ -Hey, Micah.
-Let's go around back.
-Next on their plan -- a little family fun.
♪ Josh and his family have been here before, so he knows how to set up the ramp for his dad.
♪ -Lined up.
♪ -Hey!
Hey!
Hey!
-Come on, Josh!
-Oh.
Almost.
-Is he good or what?!
There are so many ways to show you care -- like talking with the people you love and spending time together.
-Thanks for spending time with me and my family.
I've got to go talk to my mom about the plan for tomorrow.
Bye!
♪ -Josh's plan for the day had tons of helping and fun, just like mine!
Even though I couldn't go to the museum, it felt really good to help my brother.
When someone in your family needs extra care, it helps to have a plan.
And it makes you feel way, way, way great!
