As she approaches 80 years old, the founder of Ewajo Dance Studio, still believes that dance is the key to health.
Edna Daigre can point to herself as living proof.
In 2015 Daigre was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a blood cancer.
Her doctor said she would probably die of old age before myeloma and Daigre wasn't ready to start drug treatments or other medical interventions.
She credits her daily movement plus some luck with helping her to manage her cancer without medication, recently Daigre developed a movement regime aimed specifically at seniors of color, she calls her program, 'Dance For Health' Ewajo Dance Studio has closed but as pandemic restrictions eased, Daigre is excited to welcome students back to in-person classes at the MLK Center in Seattle Central College.
