Gordon’s family is now suing the state, alleging that race was a factor in his death.
The family of Maurice Gordon Jr. filed a lawsuit against “The State of New Jersey, State Trooper Sgt. Randall Wetzel, Attorney General Gurbir Grewal, New Jersey State Police Col. Patrick Callahan, and other unnamed individuals.” The family’s attorney, William Wagstaff, says they still don’t have all the pieces needed to paint a full picture of Maurice Gordon Jr.’s final moments.
