Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship(dramatic music) - Hi, I'm Jay Martin Jr. in the Crosscut KCTS 9 newsroom.
(gentle music) Bruce Harrell has been mayor for just over a hundred days and is off to a promising start.
According to the latest Crosscut-Elway Poll, twice as many Seattle voters were encouraged than were discouraged by what they have seen so far from the new mayor.
A 41% plurality had not yet formed an opinion.
The issue of homelessness was the criterion most used to evaluate the new mayor.
More than a third of those encouraged by his performance cited Harrell's focus on, or approach to, homelessness.
On the flip side, nearly 1/2 of the discouraged poll respondents also cited his approach to homelessness as the main reason for their appraisal.
It is no surprise that homelessness is the standard by which the mayor will be judged.
In our poll last September, 48% of voters volunteered it as the number one priority for the next mayor.
