(upbeat bright music) The US Supreme Court will hear arguments in a Washington school prayer case involving the Bremerton School District and the First Amendment.
At stake is whether the Bremerton School District cut out former assistant football coach Joe Kennedy's first amendment rights by punishing him after he continued to pray on the field despite being warned not to.
Or whether Kennedy's actions pressured students into practicing Christianity with him.
So far, the lower courts have cited with the school district, which has been backed by supporters of the separation of church and state as well as local Bremerton religious leaders.
Kennedy's case has received attention in conservative circles and has drawn court filings and the support from Republican Attorneys General and from NFL quarterbacks, like Kirk Cousins and Nick Foles.
Oral arguments in the case where heard in April with a decision expected to come in the summer.
