We've rounded up several new Pacific Northwest memoirs to add to your spring reading list.
In "Broken Horses," Grammy-winning artist Brandi Carlile takes us back to her childhood in a Burien trailer.
In chapters stuffed with photos and song lyrics, Carlile also writes about coming out, busking at Pike Place Market, and doing open mic nights in the U-District.
Another memoir is "How to Raise a Feminist Son," by Sonora Jha, a Seattle journalism professor and feminist media scholar.
Jha not only shares her research and interviews, but draws from her own experiences as a parent and explains what she wishes she'd done differently.
And then there's "I'm in Seattle, Where are You?," a memoir about love in time of war by journalist Mortada Gzar.
The book follows Gzar as he leaves Iraq, where he, as a gay man and writer, faced unspeakable torture and eventually arrives in Seattle on Election Day 2016.
