For now, McConnell recently included language in a Senate Agriculture appropriations bill that he says would have kept bad actors from exploiting the 2018 farm bill to create intoxicating products with federally illegal levels of THC.
Kentucky's other U.S. senator, Rand Paul, is reportedly against banning ingestible hemp products containing THC.
Speaking on the Senate floor today, Senator McConnell said he allowed his language to be stripped from the bill so that it can move forward, adding his efforts to protect children and support farmers will continue.
