I grew up in Hermantown in a workingclass family.
My mom was a nurse for 42 years.
My dad was a carpenter and then moved to the paper mill.
I was a public servant.
I started working at the US Bankruptcy Court in Duth when I was just 18.
And after law school, I joined US citizenship and immigration services.
It was a career I loved.
I was there for almost 20 years when Trump 2.0 know and Doge came in and I was asked to do things that were unethical that violated my oath and I gave up that career that I absolutely loved.
I started my own immigration law firm and then I looked around and realized that we did not have the representation that we deserved in this district and I had the skills in foreign policy, in national security, in immigration and in working in Washington DC what worked and what didn't work.
and I decided that I could take something that was really difficult and turn it into something good and I decided to run for Congress.
Now look folks, here is why I'm running.
We are far too wealthy of a nation to not have universal health care.
I will fight so that health care is a right for everyone and not a benefit.
It should not depend on where you live, who you work for, or how old you are if you can get health care.
And we know we are struggling in our district.
We have hospitals and clinics that are likely to close because of the cuts to Medicaid reimbursement and you can't even have a baby right now in Eani County.
The second thing that's really important to me is this affordability crisis.
We know that prices are skyrocketing for gas, for groceries, for our car insurance, for our electric bills.
Now, people are not keeping up.
I don't think it is right versus left anymore.
I think it is 1% versus the 99.
We have a Congress and Pete Stabber that wants to represent the 1%.
We can look at the big beautiful bill and all the cuts to our schools, to our clinics, to our hospitals so that the billionaires and the corporations can continue to make record profit.
Now, I want to fight for the working class.
Folks, there are so many issues and I encourage you to come to an event so we can talk about more.
But we have to talk about mining.
Pete Stalber is going to say that I'm anti-mining.
I am both pro- mining and pro- environmental protections.
We can have both.
However, we can't let a foreign company come into our Boundary Waters wershed and mine here.
It is too dangerous.
So, let's get it done, folks.
On November 3rd, we are voting for the future of our democracy in our country.
We are watching corruption blatantly happen all over this government with this administration.
It is time for people with integrity to get into Congress and get things done and fight for the working class.
So I am asking for your support.
My name is Trina Swanson.
I am running for Congress.
Please vote for me on November 3rd.
Let's get this done.
