The pressure was on federal lawmakers on Wednesday as the Senate voted on a bill to protect the constitutional right to abortion access -- but the vote was doomed to fail from the start. Democrats couldn’t cobble together the 60 votes needed to move it forward in a 50-50 split chamber, further showing the partisan divide in Washington while getting every member’s stance on the record.
