It is one of 310 Tuba Christmas concerts that happen around the country and the world during the month of December.
It is in celebration of the greatest tuba player of all time, a man by the name of Bill Bell.
He used considered the best to require an American history of the 20th century.
He was born on Christmas Day when he passed away in 1974.
His friends wanted to pay tribute to him, so they got together at Rockefeller Center in New York City.
They played the first Merry Tuba Christmas.
That was 1974.
And today is the 49th anniversary of Married to Christmas.
We have been doing this in this area now for 12 years.
We have community members.
We have folks in today from Litchfield.
We've got some folks from the Twin Cities.
We've got a bunch of folks from Duluth.
We love this for the fact that it celebrates our horn.
It celebrates the holiday season.
It celebrates the musicality.
And it's and it celebrates camaraderie.
Music is a lifetime sport, and that's what we celebrate with Merry Tuba Christmas.
