One disease that’s also having a disproportionate impact is Alzheimer’s. Statistics show that older members of African-American and Latino communities are more likely to have the disease or other forms of dementia than white Americans. These disparities -- which existed long before the pandemic -- are now receiving renewed attention amid our national push to address racial injustice.
