As reports of violence in New York City’s jails continue to grow, a City Council investigation reveals that although women make up only 6% of the population, 20% of the allegations come from the women’s center on Rikers Island. In partnership with Public Square Media, we continue our special “Justice Week” series with personal stories of women who have experienced life inside Rikers.
