Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship- That's where it gets a little bit of a challenge for the Speaker if he wants to maintain the amount of diversity that he's introduced already.
Simply knocking everybody up a slot would mean that the top spots would kinda become just as white and a little more male as they've been all along.
So assuming that Representative Kate Hogan, who is now the number three slot, and she's a gay woman, if she becomes the replacement for Cronin in that number two slot as Majority Leader, the next two members down that depth chart, they're both straight white men; Representative Michael Moran from Brighton, he's the Assistant Majority Leader, and Joseph Wagner of Chicopee.
Yeah, they're both straight white guys.
Sarah Peake is also in that next tier.
She's a gay woman from Providence, gay white woman.
And so, you can kinda see the shuffling and it's demographic, obviously, it's identity politics.
But when Mariano said I'm gonna have this leadership team, this really important leadership team reflect the diversity of the House, his options for promoting senior Representatives into that team are kind of few and far between based basically because of the makeup of the House itself.
