Marie went to high school in Minneapolis and went on to become one of the first Native American women in the US to earn a law degree.
Marie was active in the women's suffrage movement which won the right to vote for women in 1920.
Believing in her cultural traditions and the law, Marie Bottineau Baldwin was a champion of Native American rights and women's rights.
