According to the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey, dentists write 12 percent of all opioid prescriptions. With a large portion of new heroin users starting out their opioid addiction with prescribed painkillers, organizations and advocates push to limit the number of scripts written by doctors in dentistry.
