Governor Snyder's new plan for DPS schools calls for students, employees, contracts, employee benefits, and assets to move to the new district, which will be governed by a 7-member board initially appointed by the Governor and the Detroit Mayor. In addition, it calls for creating a Detroit Education Commission, which will be in charge of engaging the community and hiring a chief education officer.
