A lot of people have been putting in a lot of just work over the years trying to get bands to come through, and it was the first place that I had ever lived in Mississippi where I saw a DIY community that had something.

Something was happening two or three times a week.

Hattiesburg is Hub City.

It's equidistant to a lot of cool places that a lot of bands go to.

And when people stop through, it's super important.

- Hattiesburg in general is just the kind of place where it's like you just do it for the love of the game, really, in terms of music.

You're just like, "I love that."

That's what I do.

And some people go on tour, and some people just like to just kick it at the crib and stuff.

And so a lot of it was like, we were really digging in and no stone unturned emotionally or musically where we're talking about everything and we're trying everything that we think of.

And it's like digging deep as a person and also an American, and just thinking about what that means and also the things we were talking about and our feelings or just what went on during the pandemic, just sitting around and just thinking about it.

It was a lot of that just self-reflection.

Just being vulnerable was a big part of the album, of just being like... Is that cringey to...

Does that make me feel weird to say?

I should say that then.
