Scott came up to me.
He said, "Hey, aren't you in the Fiddleworms?"
And I was like, "Man, I'm honored to even know who that is."
He said, "Man, I'm an artist.
Most of the work I do is for out of town.
I never get to do anything here.
I would love to do some art for you guys."
And I told him, "Sure, if I have something come up, you know, I'll keep you in mind."
And I wasn't a jerk to him, but I wasn't jumping through hoops.
A couple weeks later, I'm back at the restaurant.
Scott comes back up to me, reintroduces himself to me.
And at that time, Andreas Werner was doing a live project on us.
And I told Scott, I said, you know, "Andreas is doing this project on us.
If you would like to submit some artwork, I'll be glad to show it to him."
He said, "Man, thanks a lot."
I left the bar that night thinking, "Yeah, I'm gonna help out a local artist," and he turns in the artwork and it's some of the most amazing art I've ever seen in my life.
I call him up and I ask him what kind of work he's doing outta town, he said, "Oh, well, I design T-shirts for all the Hard Rock Cafes."
So it was completely the opposite of what I thought it was.
Like, I'm not helping him out, he's helping me out.
So, you know, because of that relationship and that friendship that has grown, we have art, and because of Corry Hanna, we have film and we have music, and it's all on the same level.
So it all feeds off of each other.
So as the shows have grown, the production has grown.
So by the time we got to the '80s show, we're dealing with digital walls, and Scott is doing this incredible artwork that accompanies each song.
And Overflow Production, you know, had those screens come in.
So then it was just, well, let's see if we can make the logo move.
Let's see if we can make, you know, the astronaut from the '80s thing.
Maybe I can make him float into the screen.
And then once I figured out how to make him float, I was like, well, if we could put video behind the animation, well, then we can make him look like he's floating in space.
And, you know, that worked.
And then I was like, "Well, if we do that, maybe I can have asteroids flying."
And that worked.
And it just spiraled into animating (laughs) 50 songs.
And it just became this thing last year that we were all really excited about, and Overflow, the way they did the lighting with the monitors, it was just brilliant.
And so going into this year, it became, how do we top it?
I would say the production was as entertaining as the music was.
It's amazing.
And so after that, we're like, "Well, what do we do now?"
So we did the '70s.
