We are hoping to create a music program after school so we can find the kids that really love it and help them continue with their musical career.
(warm piano music) Hi, I'm Graciella Kowalczyk.
I'm the artistic director of Music City Japan and Nashville International and Piano Competition.
Piano Rainbow Initiatives bring 10 pianos to public schools in the Nashville area.
Our mission is to enhance the lives of the students through celebrating their cultural diversity and empowering them via musical education.
(warm music) This program is possible because of the wonderful community support that we receive from our local sports teams, attorney offices, doctor offices, and overwhelming community support.
(warm piano music) - Hi, I am Principal Bonner at the Robert Churchwell Museum Magnet Elementary School.
I think for us, we are a museum magnet, so we'll always really try to focus on the arts.
I think having another work of art in this building will also help to enhance what we are already doing.
We have a robust music program with our music teacher, and so this will add to all the great things he's doing to our piano lab that is also included in our school.
(warm piano music) The group is coming to work with our students.
They're gonna be painting a piano to showcase for us the titans who are really, really great in supporting our school and being able to give our students another opportunity to showcase their talents.
(warm piano music) - I'm in fifth grade, my name is Egypt and I like painting.
I love the colors, I love painting with friends.
- The arts are important to Churchwell because they give our students an opportunity to showcase all of who they are, not only academically, but what they're able to do creatively as well.
- What I look forward to looking back at the piano at the school is looking at what I created.
I think I would definitely like to play the piano.
