Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorshipWe have not had a Navy week of this size and scope since we dedicated the anchor for the USS, Duluth, a little over ten years ago.
Our service celebrates 250 years.
There are real links between the Navy and Duluth and the state of Minnesota.
Two U.S. Navy vessels have carried the name USS Duluth.
The most recent one, of course, which whose anchor I'm standing in front of was an amphibious warship that served between from 1965 to 2005 and earned numerous honors and accolades spanning from the Vietnam War to the Global War on Terror.
We underpin America's economic prosperity by ensuring freedom of the seas.
Exports contribute $27 billion to the state economy, and much of it flows from Duluth.
We are here to bring your Navy closer to the citizens of Duluth and the Northland, demonstrating the vital role that our globally deployed force plays in guaranteeing America's security, economic prosperity and way of life.
