Black women are 2-3 times more likely to die from pregnancy-related issues compared to White and Hispanic women, according to the CDC. Charlotte mother Tomeka Issac recounts her near-death experience dealing with pregnancy complications and how she’s now working to raise awareness about maternal health disparities.
