Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorshipgovernor Murphy is rolling out a series of steps to help residents bracing for big increases in their electric bills starting next month he recently signed a law requiring New Jerseys electric and gas utilities to let certain customers know about their energy use and costs before sending out a monthly bill murphy also signed executive orders today asking utility companies to voluntarily expand programs that prevent service disconnections during the winter months to July through September and suspend all reconnection fees beyond the period of peak summer usage as well as directing the Board of Public Utilities to look at available funding to stabilize utility bills the administration is also asking the BPU to move quickly to review proposals for bringing more energy generation online among other things the rate hikes stem from a recent capacity auction at grid operator PJM Interconnection and are expected to raise monthly bills by up to $25 [Music]
