The University of Louisville's new president, says the school is on track to break its enrollment record for a second year in a row.

President Jerry Bradley discussed some of his priorities during a media availability this morning.

The former executive vice president and university provost was named U of L's new president last week after the sudden resignation of Kam Chancellor, who held the role for just two years.

Usually, a new president comes in and they talk about their new vision.

But the reality is, of course, I've been a part of the university for nine years coming up this summer, so I think I have a unique perspective and that I've been involved in.

The current strategic plan is actually administered out of my office.

And so from the standpoint of what my vision is, I think you kind of see it clearly in the strategic plan that we have.

President Bradley also discussed House Bill four, which bans diversity, equity and inclusion at Kentucky's public universities.

The bill became law last week after the state legislature overturned Governor Beshear's veto.

We're still working out the language in the bill because, you know, we have questions about it.

And I speak for we have questions.

I'm talking about all of of the presidents in the universities across the Commonwealth are still trying to figure, you know, get clarification as this bill was finally dropped and override the veto about what that implementation is going to look like for June 30th, 2025.

And so we're working diligently as a group among the presidents to get more information on that.

And clearly, our intent is we will comply with the law, but we will clearly continue with our mission, which is to make every person feel like they belong here.

Bradley also acknowledged challenges related to federal funding for research, and he said the university is taking a protective measure by instituting a four month hiring freeze for full time staff and faculty.
