Community leaders in Newark are trying to create better ways to make communities safer. In a new report on those efforts, they say that investing in communities -- connecting people with trauma recovery services, for example -- instead of focusing on law enforcement alone has helped Newark to greatly reduce levels of crime and violence in recent years.
