Advocates say same-sex couples don't have equal protection through current law
New Jersey lawmakers are throwing their support behind same-sex marriages. The Assembly Judiciary Committee unanimously voted to advance legislation that would codify same-sex marriage as state law. Advocates say as the law stands now, same-sex couples don't have the kind of protection they should. The bill is expected to pass in both houses of the Legislature next week.
