And we just wrapped up a huge region.
75, a battle between North Cobb and Walton that one went 33, 26 Warriors, win it an emotional Shane Queen after the game and I can't wait to talk to John Nelson about that.
Post game interview.
Other top matchups all around the state regions battles and we have got a head coach on the line waiting already.
That is Cedartown head coach.
Jamie Abrams coming off a 42 to nothing win over Heritage Ringgold coach you go 7 and 0 2 and 0 in region play.
You said atop the rankings with North Oconee.
Tell me about how this game in this win is going to propel you down the rest of your region schedule.
Well, I think it was important because they were six and old.
We were six of those are kids did a good job coming out and kind of set the tone early.
We scored on the first play from scrimmage and, you know, just kind of never looked back.
Our kids were prepared, well, all week.
So it just, it was good to see them.
Reap the benefits of that preparation, this week coach.
I know my partner in crime.
John Nelson's got a question for you.
All right.
Yeah, really quickly.
Jamie when you look at your team this year, I think one of the things that has been the strongest thing to see, has been your defense, because you got your second shot out tonight, you've given up a total of only 44 points this season to date.
What has it been like to have a dominant defense?
That's only been giving up a little over six points, a game on average this year.
Obviously helps, you know, you know, if you can keep people at Bay scored, that kind of helps you out offensively.
We got a good number kids back from last year so they can understand what's going on and and how to conduct themselves we can week out.
So they've done a great job of preparing themselves because Jeremy ruark side defensive coordinator, and he works tirelessly to make sure he crosses all this teaser dots as eyes.
Coach Abrams.
Thanks so much for calling in our you're in the locker room.
Are you still in Ringgold?
Or you back home?
We're still in Ringo.
You got on something for stand up on the bus last time.
So I made it.
I thought you were standing up.
Thank you.
Safe, post game is what we believe you, John, he waited for us, he stated Ringgold, and called him from the locker room.
That's awesome strength, that's straight -up, very cool.
And when you look at the remainder of his schedule, after the win tonight, Senora Ville, who came in that foreign to they were the only other team that was 10 in the region.
Then you've got both directional whitfield's to finish up your schedule.
So it's a very favorable run of course we probably should have just said earmuffs for Jamie Abrams right now with the remaining games.
On his schedule looking pretty favorable for him to be the top seed coming out of his region heading into the playoffs.
A lot of games might be going through Cedartown when it comes to life and quad-a, it's them in Oconee County.
A top for a in Oconee county, has got Monroe Area.
Stevens County, Franklin County coming up.
They played heart tonight.
What do you know about that game?
John?
It was dominant.
It was 3114, a Coney last time that I checked and I can, if, you know, if the phone would actually behave and actually register a fingerprint and I could go back and take a pic.
But the last score that I had, was 3114, a Coney County was in control over heart.
I got you, John, they are.
They defeated Hart, County, 3114, final score in that one.
Cool.
Alright, so I you know, I was, I was close, I was trying to figure out, okay, where can I go quickly, where can I go quickly to figure it out, but didn't move from the last time that I saw it.
So that's very good.
All right, we got our next victim on the show John, so you hang out right there.
It's our stream game.
It was a special one tonight.
It was Osborn versus Kennesaw Mountain.
This one was on the road for Kennesaw Mountain in Marietta region opener for both of these teams coach you get the 49 to nothing win and you snap something really special Osborne was doing going for 6 and 0 for the first time since 1994, but you guys came away with the huge win, what does this do with for you and your team heading down?
In your region schedule.
Yeah, but you know, our goal this week was a good night for us.
Caleb.
It's Jon Nelson.
And I know that our time goes back to the time when you played it shorter and having been able to see you grow as a player and now grow as a coach has been very, very special.
When you look at your growth as a coach, being able to take the Kennesaw Mountain program, your first three years you were below, 500 double-digit win, little last season now, where you are right now?
What's it been like to see your own growth as a coach as a part of the growth of the Kennesaw Mountain program.
It's been awesome.
Very fortunate to be in this position and table, the being a place that, you know, that I graduated from and come home, and it has success of me.
And this is the place full of potential and always has been.
I think that it's it's it's great to be a part of it to be here for sure.
Coach Carr mean, thanks so much for calling in.
Are you in a car?
Looks like you're not in a bus, you're in a car heading home.
I'm in the car trying to beat the bus is holding everything.
Locked up laundry started, film, all that stuff.
Laundry love and I know you're not doing the laundry.
Kennesaw Mountain head coach?
Kayla Cardenas.
Thanks so much for calling it.
John, how much longer are you doing these days a lot?
Then the thing is is that when it comes when it comes to laundry, you know, when you're a bachelor and you know, when the the laundry baskets full, you'll wait time, and then all of a sudden, it's like it's time to do laundry.
That's the way it is for me, but I do it a lot more frequently.
These days, I'm far more impatient with myself when it comes to doing laundry.
Now that I'm a married man than I am, then I was when I was a bachelor, I know, Pat, he's out of town right now, so So that's why I said that there's there's a kid behind you that wants to.
I want you to give them a shout out.
Well, I mean, he was wondering what we were doing and so he was wondering if we were alive and so the answer that is an emphatic.
Yes, he just decided he wanted to walk away.
So it's, you know, it's all good.
Then they'll Pat, he's in town, by the way, she, she is making sure that she's watching all of it.
She watched recruiting 2022, she's watching the game.
And she's watching the fact that when I come home, it's a twenty dollar fine because I left my wedding band at home.
So that's how it is right now with, with how things are during football season.
Well, let's talk about seven May, I keep saying, region 75.
A where region 57a?
There's a million regions.
I've got listed here.
Let's talk about seven.
A region 5 and Kennesaw Mountain is.
Now the front-runner with North Cobb, who we have seen twice now on GPB saw what they just did to Walton.
What are your thoughts on these regions standings?
No, I think that you're I think we're right on and Matt and Wayne were discussing it as well.
We're right now you're looking at Kennesaw Mountain in North Cobb that one is coming up on the 21st.
I think that right now that's the game that you want to Circle when it comes to games to pay attention to, when it comes to the possible ones and twos Walton with the loss right now their next in line for Kennesaw Mountain next week.
So it's an interesting two -week period for Kennesaw Mountain Walton and North Cobb and that will go a long way to determine what it looks like.
The 12 in the three, let's go to for a John or we have Marcus jelks here.
Stephenson head coach, they defeated West Minister 18 213 at home.
They now are 5 and 2 2 and 0 in region play and coach.
That's got to feel good to have two wins early in region play.
Absolutely, absolutely.
Now that's the goal.
We kind of take it week by week, you know, was Mister Heads Up football team.
We knew they were going to be disciplined and play for welcomes game or so excited that we were able to come away with a victory.
Coach early on you know you had to you had to play Dutch town.
You had the game with Hialeah that was wiped off the board.
Then you had Arabia Mountain, Carver Atlanta Tucker, hateful Charter and then the game tonight with Westminster, where would you gauge where you are right now?
After the win against Westminster with Miller Grove, Holy Innocents, in Southwest DeKalb, coming up to finish up your schedule.
It's up to say we just got to make sure that we get these guys to keep fighting Miller.
Grove, we lost that game last year.
And a close one that's all we know.
It's a big one coming up but definitely trying to go one and no next week with Miller Grove and and hopefully you know we could we can try to get a region championship.
Coach, thank you so much for calling and we'll let you get home and drive safe tonight.
Absolutely.
Thank you guys.
Alright, coach coach, John, AKA coach trying to pull up the region?
I don't think I've ever called you that got you.
I'm trying to watch the region.
Yes, for yes.
I'm trying to pull up the standings, but but while I do that, you tell us what, you know, and I'm just going to fact-check you here.
Okay, so Stephenson with the win tonight over Westminster.
This was another one of those you had three teams coming into region play with 100 records.
This win for Markus Schulz, gets them to 2 and 0, they're the early favorite.
If you want to call it that with a handful of games left to go three more games left in region play there, the early favorite in case you get into tiebreakers and things like that, they've got their second win.
Westminster drops to 1 and 0 Miller Grove would have to end up being something of a spoiler to knock Stephenson off of the top of the perch.
Ouch, you look at Holy Innocents.
They came in this weekend with a record of three and three Miller Grove was three and three Southwest to cab.
Sorry.
Commander Steve Graham at two and four, so big win tonight.
I think for positioning the Stephenson really puts themselves in a good place when it comes to region, 6 quad egg for the home stretch.
Yeah, right now, they said a number two.
Gosh, eight teams in that region.
John 2 3 4 5, 6 7, remember?
93 of them but three of them only play but three of them only play non-region.
Schedule as you've got Druid Hill Stone Mountain and Clark's Play non-region schedule so you've only got six region games.
Okay, thank you for that clarification John.
Okay, let's go to 5A.
We've got kill head, coach Bobby met on the line defeated Northview tonight.
47 27.
This one was on the road at Johns Creek, coach big region, 65, a battle to go.
6 and 0, 2, and 0, in region play.
Tell me about your game tonight.
Yeah, we started off pretty hot first quarter and then we had an opportunity for a lot of our young guys to play in the second half so that was always good at math.
Finish strong second half until pretty late.
Coach, what's it been like for you to take over this program?
It's the first year for you up there at Cal what has this experience been like for you?
And then you look at yourself out of the blocks at six and oh it's a fantastic start.
But what's it been like for you taking over this program has been a good time.
There's a lot of people up here we have R is some good players so you know we're excited about where we're at but you know, always continue to look to get better.
Coach.
Thanks so much for calling in.
Are you?
You're in a car?
Which, which book are you in and being safe?
We're driving.
Thank you so much for calling it and good luck down the rest of your region schedule.
Thank you.
Appreciate it.
All right John what are your thoughts on that classification in region I've got it pulled right here kale and Cambridge right now or 1 and 2 in region 6, 5 a and Cambridge beat Centennial thirty seven to ten.
So the tie for the top spot in that region continues, right?
And next week you've got Kellen Cambridge and that one is at Kelso, it'll be a big test for Craig Bennett in Cambridge.
Cambridge right now, five and two kellett, 60.
No, and once again, you're looking, I think at the one and two coming up next week in this region in 65 a because after this game for Cal you're looking at GAC which came into this week at 500 at three and three you've got North Springs who's at four and one great season so far for the Spartans coming out of the blocks at four.
And one before they hit region, play in full and then Chattahoochee is the last game on the schedule on decision day for Cal Chattahoochee, right now Owen to in region play.
So once again, we're Talking about games that look like the 1 and the 2 next week as how things are lining up with Cambridge in Cal right now.
In region 6 5 a Alright, thanks so much John.
We're going to step aside as we get more coaches connected, stick with us more to come on the post game show right here on GPB.

That's why you need bread, A Pest Management to defend your home right after the official pest control of high school football, Welcome back to the football Fridays and Georgia postgame show presented by the governor's office of Highway Safety, reminding you to buckle up Georgia.
If you watched our game tonight it was a big region.
57 a battle between North Cobb and Walton.
Raiders pulled it out 33, Warriors told it out.
33 26, a Trader Valley.
And John's been there all night.
I want to bring On back in to talk about this one John it was Warriors all the way they LED 19 to nothing at halftime.
Our Georgia cotton commission player of the game quarterback.
Nick Grim said, six of eight for over 180 yards and a rush.
What did you think about his performance?
And overall, were you surprised with the running clock in the fourth quarter?
Absolutely.
I was and I think a lot of us were when you were looking at running clock in the fourth quarter.
And you could tell that for the coaching staff at North Cobb, they really wanted the shut out because it's Shane Queen on the sidelines fourth quarter.
He was going getting that shut out of be really special.
That was kind of a quick impression, but it was closed anyway.
They didn't quite get it, but it was dominant defensively.
And that's why I wanted to ask him, postgame about his defensive coordinator and the defensive homework that they did.
Keeping Jeremy had klinsky.
And this off, Is on, you know, under pressure for the entire evening, an offensive ly for North Cobb.
They kept the Walton defense on their heels and it was, it was great to, you know, if you're in North Cobb, had it was great to see because you'd sit there and you start running one running back.
You run another running back then when they would key meaning, the, the defense for Walton, on your running game, that's when you get the screen game going, that's when you get The downfield Passing going and they just kept them on their heels, Hannah all night long.
Yeah.
John they'll they certainly did an emotional head coach Shane Queen after the game ended.
The players bombarded.
You I want to talk to you about that as well, but we do have a coach waiting to talk to his right now region 56.
A let's go there.
We've got, Daniel Boone Williams here to talk to us from Hughes about beating East Paulding.
This was a home game that Fairburn coach you now are 7 and 0 4 and 0 in region play.
I don't think we've talked to a coach that's for know, in region play yet.
You're tied.
Atop the standings with East Paul.
Ting.
What did this win mean to you?
Tonight, I'm in a lot.
I think this wind if I'm not mistaking guaranteed, a playoff spot for us, so that's all we were playing for.
We were just trying to come out this week and just take this game as we do every week on to the next one.
And we were able to do that tonight.
Coach, when you look at the expectations from folks, like me, and Hannah.
And those of us that have microphones in our hands on a weekly basis knowing that you're going to be at the top of the rankings, how do you keep the noise away from your players?
Knowing what the anticipation is for a season that could be very, very special for you.
There at Hughes Well, one thing I do my guys, I go back and I look at a lot of negatives for the game, we played the first game previous and we work and we focus on those things so we don't really do one.
We got like a maybe a 12, you can say fourteen or our window we try to celebrate the win that way.
Also the next.
So what we do with the majority of our time is focus on the bad things that happened in the game.
So that's our focus in practice.
We got to fix it, we got to fix it, we got to fix it.
There's a word you're here.
A lot around here is fixed Coach, one thing you don't need to fix his, your offense, 59, to nothing was the score, tonight.
Tell me about what was clicking so well.
The boy's body in, on some time they had short field, they were able to make take advantage of the short for you.
They were you know I challenged them coming out of last week's win against Alexander.
I challenge them this week to kind of get back to the norm and just kind of controlling the ball and moving the ball up and down the field and they bought into what I asked him to or less penalty.
First week, my whole line did have any penalties, you know?
So it's just work, we just work, try to get better.
Awesome coach thanks so much for calling in.
Well John you got another one?
Yeah real quick you know do you want the bye week now coach considering that you've got a week to rest before noon and because of all the momentum that you've built or do you want to sit there and rest everybody for that week or you going to take the bye week?
Now would you rather keep playing?
I'm gonna take the bye week.
Now I have two guys who key guys all banged up so he'll just get a little bit more healthy and they try to work on us and you know, prepare for Noonan to gives us two weeks to prepare prepare for Nolan.
So that's my main focus right now.
All right.
Coach.
Now we're going to let you go home.
Thanks so much for calling in all righty.
Okay, John, I've got the region standings up and they're at the top of the list.
Like I said, South Paulding.
Douglas County Paulding County.
I don't have all the final scores on what those teams did tonight but they're they're the clear leaders actually.
Let me see what South Paulding did because they were both 3 & 0 leading it heading into tonight.
John Yeah.
And South balding is the matchup that I'm looking at on the 28th and it's at South Paulding.
And so I think that as you look at things, that's the one that you want to Circle.
If you're looking in, filling out your brackets for region 56a.
That one should be the one that to decide the one and the two.
I know that Douglas County and Paulding County will have something to say about that.
Douglas County was held to only three points a couple weeks ago by Hughes losing 48, 3 in a bit of a shocker there.
But once again, When you look at Paulding County, that's going to be the last game of the regular season.
So you've got two hurdles.
I think if you're looking, and I know that coach Boone is looking at these games is all three having hurdles of their own, but I think that you look at South Paulding, you look at Paulding County game 9 in game, 10 for Hughes as those two hurdles to solidify that one seed for them coming out of region.
And having a lot of home games in South Fulton County, South Paulding defeated, new, Manchester 61 260 that game you mentioned where they play each other.
Probably determined the region champion in that game.
Okay, John I want to talk to you about other top games around the state.
When we have not talked about yet is the winners Ville classic.
One of the state's biggest rivalries between Valdosta and Lowndes.
If my scoreboard is correct, Valdosta defeated Lounge, 5:47 final score.
What does that mean?
For the Wildcats?
Well, I mean it really sets things up in region, play, you're looking at that game, against Colquitt County coming up in a couple of weeks.
That's the one where you're really going to make sure that you want to get the win there, if your Shelton Felton because the way things are in this region, you're looking at there.
Were the three, big, the three big dogs that were there and then you have Richmond Hill and Camden County who were playing tonight as well to kind of determine the four seed.
I think is how you're looking at it, although a lot of folks think Think that Camden County and Richmond Hill, will probably come up and bite one of those other three teams as we go.
But with the win, you've got Richmond Hill, Camden County Colquitt that game on the 28th is how it's looking right now, Valdosta at home against Colquitt County, should determine the one in the two lands with the loss in region, obviously puts them at 0 and 1 and that gives him an uphill battle the rest of the way.
But now I know a lot of folks in region 1 7 a they're looking at that game on.
Next to last week of the regular season on the 28th, leading into Halloween Valdosta.
Colquitt County that one.
You better highlight, you better put it in bold print, you better you know, absolutely Circle it on your calendars, get your plan squared away now because probably if when the the moment tickets go on sale for that one at Valdosta that's going to be one of the hottest tickets at Bazemore hide her in quite some time because Hannah you and I both know that the folks in Moultrie will travel and they will travel and they evade don't have tickets, they will come and travel to be it.
Bazemore Hyder stadium for that game coming up in a couple of weeks that is going to be an enormous game region.
17, a just keeps getting tougher every single year.
Well, next week, we've got 27 a game for our football, Friday in Georgia game of the week, but it's in Region 8, John Mill Creek at Buford next Friday, October 14th, 7:30 p.m. John.
What are your thoughts on this one?
It's gonna be huge.
That's, I mean, and that's the short version of it because you look at these two teams, Buford chasing after that mythical National Championship.
Because if you look in, depending on the poll because there's probably a good half dozen or eight to ten poles for high school football here in the United States, Buford is top five in the country in at least four of them.
And you have Mill Creek, who's a top, 20 top 25 team.
Once again, if you believe in these kinds of things with Rules when it comes to high school football around the United States, you've got to top 25 teams in the country.
Going at each other next week.
And once again, it's you're going to be the one in the to figuring out what's going to happen.
Here, I anticipate it's going to be one of those heavyweight fights that we always like to talk about.
It's going to go the full 15 rounds and yes, I know, I just dated myself with that reference with a 15-round heavyweight fight.
Considering most of them only go ten or twelve these days.
But Buford Mill Creek, set your calendars, set your DVRs Must-see television on GPB.
Next Friday night.
We've got our stream game as well.
We're going to announce that in just a little bit as well as a flag football announcement but right now, we have Tucker Tucker on the line head coach of Fitzgerald big game at MIT Miller Field and Sylvester the win 42.
Nothing region went to a coach told me about your game tonight.
Orchids.
Well, you know, I thought I had a really good plan to Cooper their quarterbacks a great player.
He was our region player of the year last year and he's no easy got to defend it.
So we had to mix up our looks.
I thought we did a good job of bringing pressure changing up.
What he's you know seeing as we're able to get off field office so we're able to run the football and it all kind of came together.
We play for the win.
Tucker.
When you went into the bye week, you went into it at 5 and 0 and you got to kind of assess where you were coming up against the team with Coach Hammond and Worth County.
That's been putting up a lot of points when you got to the halfway point of the Season, getting ready for the second half.
Where did you think you were as a team as everybody heads you with a bull's-eye on your chest?
But obviously, there's a lot of things to work on word, fundamentals.
Working on fundamentals, we almost got in there be and heading back from Sylvester Georgia.
So John what are your if you could decipher?
What coach Pruitt's trying to say?
What do you think?
How do you think this helps him in region?
Play going forward 6 and 0.
Now, 2 and 0 and then that region 12 a, I think it gave them time to catch their breath and to coach Pruitt's point, it gave them the chance to sit there and assess where they were at the halfway point of the Season, find out what they needed to work on.
Because you were playing against an Irwin County team and you won by eight.
You played a Turner County team, you won that one, barely comfortably you played Northeast Macon, and Northeast Makin.
Once again, is going to be a team to be reckoned with in Middle Georgia, in double-a at a region.
To then you played Madison County Florida and Dodge County, Madison County.
You played them in the Border war game, the board of War Series in Brunswick and then you had a Dodge County game to start your region play.
It was at home at JC Stadium.
This was your first road test in region.
You and I think that if you're coach Hammond at Worth County, I think it's also beneficial for you coming out of this game as well.
You know, you're heading into game 6, but I think that for Tucker Pruitt and Fitzgerald hitting the halfway point, gave him a chance to sit there, maybe hit the reset button, a little bit work.
On some things, they did that tonight got the win against the tough Worth County team here in region one day a Another coach on the road heading back from Tifton.
That's Justin Rogers.
Head coach of Thomas County Central, got the 42 27 when to go 7 and 0 2 and 0 in region play region.
16a tonight coach tell me about this when and how you were able to to beat them by such a wide margin here in region play.
The first thing, yo, hats off to them that they were 77 a half time.
They came out play, Pierre spiritual quality of failed, nipple running all little bit all this.
We have some penalties early on that, it really hurt her.
So I'm just 727 ball game and we really had been in that kind of game.
So it was good for us.
We need that.
It's a real proud of how we responded to come out really separate and played really well, but hats off to parse out.
Coach.
I know that you're the kind of guy that wants to challenge your team when it comes to season one.
What I like to recall as the non-region schedule, Cairo Thomasville Bainbridge child's and Tallahassee God be before you got into region play, what did you learn about yourself at the end of non-region?
Play that helped you with the games against veterans and Tift.
Well, the biggest thing is you was able to establish an identity and focus on those things and behind you.
Let's see, who's on.
Who's on the bus?
Is that, is that your daughter next to you?
Congratulations.
Yes, the biggest fan.
Cool.
Well, thank you so much for calling in and you guys get back safe.
Absolutely, thank y'all.
John, she was so cute.
We should ask her a question.
Yeah, we should.
Well, next time that next time that we have Justin on the show and he's got his number one fan there, then make sure that you have a question in the queue ready to go about her.
Favorite head coach, that's the biggest thing.
What makes that head coach?
Your favorite head coach?
And then she'll probably say something like, well he gives me, you know, he gives me all the the treats that I want or something like that.
So, I'm waiting for that answer.
I'm anticipating that being the chain of question-and-answer.
Next time, we have Thomas County Central in the show.
It's past her bedtime, it's late 10:54 p.m. All right.
Well, we've got a big after a thorough when I think you can go to bed a little late.
I think so too.
It's well earned.
Well, let's talk about our stream game, John.
It's another matchup with an unbeaten team for tonight.
It was 43 unbeaten teams.
I don't know how many there are now in Dutch town is one of them.
It's region, 25, a battle between Jones County and Dutch town.
Own John, what are your thoughts on this one?
We know the offense of Jones County and the pitch and catch combo that they have and it will be a test for Nikita battle and the Bulldogs who have one of the most Stout defense has regardless of classification.
They've given up I'm trying to do math, quickly, 40 to 49 points.
So far this season, they had a by this week coming into this one.
So 6 into 49, 8 points a game on average against a high-powered offense, interesting contrast to Styles Hannah It.
Thanks, John, one more coach is waiting for us.
That is Robert Atkins, Ringgold head coach.
They hosted Kahala Creek tonight region 63 a battle coach.
I don't have your final score, so you're going to have to tell me your final score on your thoughts.
On the game, we won 34 to 13 tonight against color Creek and they were five and one we were three and three.
They were 3 and 0 in the region, we were 21.
So it was a big game for us and I thought Our kids were really played exceptionally.
Well, our defense was lights out, they really did a great job from the very beginning of the game, till the end.
And then our offense, even though we struggled a little bit early, we really got better in the second half.
So kudos to our kids, to our coaches, to our community, that was a big win for Ringgold.
High School.
Coach.
It's John, let me ask you this, I know that you and we talked to coaches a lot about their non-region.
Schedules.
You're no different.
You want to challenge your team and your non-region schedule.
You started out Owen to what's been the difference from that Owen to start to where you are now that got you through the win tonight against Kahala Creek.
Well John thanks for asking that we had 21 kids last year and I had all those 21 kids.
12 got scholarships so Playing with a lot of young kids that at the beginning of the year, sophomores freshman.
I think one time I looked out against Northwest and we had like four sophomores and a freshman on the field on defense.
So, you know, experience as they gain experience, they get better and better.
And, and they've really makes a lot of improvement.
We've had a couple of injuries, but these kids have really stepped up and they were very effective in running our defenses.
Scheme.
And, you know, the great kids met great coaches and so they put everything into motion the live and and paid Williams one of our running backs had three touchdowns.
We play even the backfield, he's been hurt a good part of the year and so he came through for us tonight as well.
Coach, thank you so much for calling in.
This was a home game so you don't have far to go, please get home safe.
