And we maintain about 70 miles of trail to the show on the actual forest.
The trail is one of the web and National Scenic trails, and it's the longest of the 11.
It's 48 miles long.
It starts at Lake Sacajawea, where you park Dakota and runs all the way to the junction with the Appalachian Trail in Vermont.
So it traverses eight states, and I've been fortunate enough to hike in six of the eight.
And I've hiked most of the Wisconsin part of the trip, which is a little over 200 miles.
I fell in love with the trail about 14 years ago.
I had a backpacking trip I did on Isle Royale, and I wanted to find a place closer to home to go backpacking.
So I began exploring the trail, and it was beautiful.
And, a section came up for adoption, and my wife and I jumped at the opportunity.
So we have about a four mile section that we maintain, and we just love going out there hiking the trail and cleaning up the trail.
And actually, the work is fun and there is not a lot of people out here hiking, particularly this time of the year.
So I can come home with my cane buddy.
But I wish we could enjoy a nice long night.
The exercise is great.
I love the woods.
I love the water.
I just love nature.
My wife calls it nature bathing and I think there's something to that.
It revitalizes your mind and your soul.
