Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship(reverent orchestral music) - Hello, I'm Steven Hegg in the Crosscut KCTS 9 newsroom.
(soft ambient music) Climate Pledge Arena opened last month to the first of many Kraken hockey matches and state-of-the-art music concerts, but the new arena also enlivens Seattle Center with new art.
Greeting visitors outside is a glass-and-stainless-steel octopus in Native style by Preston Singletary and David Franklin.
Nearby, there's a startling new glass mosaic by Norie Sato and a round bronze work called SeaWave by sculptor Gerard Tsutakawa.
The venue features several murals.
This one by Jeffrey Veregge actually tells the story of the region, with trees as the overarching figure.
And giant LED displays reference the natural environment, reminding us that this is the first carbon-neutral arena in the world.
I'm Steven Hegg.
